PROFILE


The Department of Computer Science was established in 1986 with the primary objective of delivering high-quality education in the field of Computer Science and nurturing exceptional computer professionals. The department boasts modern facilities for teaching, learning, and research. It provides diverse research opportunities and undergraduate programs. The training provided is designed to equip young minds for challenging opportunities in the IT industry, fostering a global perspective with guidance from experts in Computer Science. In 1986, the department introduced B.Sc. Computer Science to cultivate core competence in the field. Additionally, the department has evolved into a Research Department, offering Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs in Computer Science under self supporting stream, aiming to produce quality researchers and engage in high-impact interdisciplinary research. The department is dedicated to excellence in both undergraduate and research education. The university-designed curriculum is intensive, hands-on, and distinctive, emphasizing both theory and practical aspects. With over 150 students and 4 dedicated staff members, our vibrant department considers students, staff, and alumni pivotal to our success. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art computer laboratories, providing students with a conducive environment to engage in practical assignments and projects. These laboratories are well-maintained and equipped with the latest hardware and software, allowing students to gain hands-on experience and develop practical skills. Additionally, the department maintains a well-stocked library that houses an extensive collection of books, journals, and research papers related to computer science. This resource plays a crucial role in providing students with additional reference materials and aiding their research endeavors. In response to rapidly evolving technology and the constant demand for innovation, the Department has produced quality professionals holding significant positions in the IT industry, both in India and abroad.

One day seminar on  Cyber Security 


    The Department of Computer Science conducted a webinar on “Cyber Crime and Cyber Security-Device Targeted” on 20th August 2019. The chief guest for this function was Er.Pradeep, CEO & Founder, Liveware, Nagercoil.

     The Department of Computer Science conducted a webinar on “Network Security ” on 4th September 2019. The chief guest for this function was Dr.Prema Latha.,Associate Professor., Nesamony Memorial College,Marthandam

 

          ENDOWMENT LECTURE -  ANDROID PROGRAMMING



    The Department of Computer Science conducted an endowment lecture on the title “Android Programming” on 25th February 2020. The chief guest for this function was Mr.Muthu Vijaya Raja,Assistant Professor,Department of IT,VHNSN College.

 The Department of Computer Science organized a National Webinar on May 15th 2020 between 10:30 AM-12:00 Noon. The theme on the webinar was ‘Recent Research Trends in Image and Video Processing’.Our principal Dr.T.Chithambarathanu inaugurated the webinar. It was aimed at highlighting research trends in Image and Video Processing. Dr. P.V.Chithra, Professor, University of Madras, Chennaidelivered a lecture and gave various applications of Image and Video Processing.There were nearly 100 participants across the country attended for the webinar.Also, the feedback about the session was collected from all the participants to improve the sessions that will be conducted in the mere future.

The Department of Computer Science organized an International Webinar on ‘Recent Research Trends in Data Science’ on May 28th 2020 between 10 AM- 11:30 AM. Our principal Dr.T.Chithambarathanu inaugurated the webinar. It was aimed at highlighting research trends in Data Science. The impact of recent technology in Data Science in the living environment was discussed in this session.Dr.Arasu Narayan, Principal Data/Applied Scientist, Microsoft, USA delivered a lecture and discussed various research areas of Data Science. More than 140 participants both Teaching Faculty Members, Research Scholars and Students have participated. Research Scholars asked various questions and resource person cleared their doubts.

The Department of Computer Science organized a Webinar on ‘Challenges in IOT Networking’ on June 1st 2020 between 10 AM- 11:30 AM. The webinar was inaugurated by our principal Dr.T.Chithambarathanu. The objective of this webinar was to discuss the challenges in IOT Networking. Dr. R.S.Rajesh, Professor, ManonmaniamSundaranar University delivered a lecture and discussed various challenges of IOT Networking. Nearly 130 Students were participated in the webinar.

LAB INAUGURATION


    The existing lab has been renovated with 20 computers featuring the latest configuration. The renovated lab was inaugurated by our chairman, Dr. A. Nagarajan.


ENDOWMENT LECTURE-BLOCK CHAIN





       The Department of Computer Science conducted an endowment lecture on the title “Block Chain” on 28th February 2023. The chief guest for this function was Dr.Sakthi Kumaresh, Associate Professor & Head,Department of IT,M.O.P Vaishnav College of Women, Chennai.

Teachers Day Celebrations (05/09/2023)


    Students of Computer Science Department celebrated Teacher’s Day on September 5th, 2023. The event began with a welcoming note by the final-year students highlighting the importance of Teachers Day and their significant contribution to the society. Dr. K.PAZHANIKUMAR, Head inaugurated the event by giving a heartfelt speech about the students approach towards celebrating teacher’s day. All the teaching staff members attended the event with a hearty smile celebrating their day by the students.


Saraswathy Pooja Celebration(19/10/2023)



Students of Computer Science Department organized Saraswati Pooja.The Pooja was held in department from 12 noon onwards. The venue was beautifully decorated by students.The event concluded by Aarti of Goddess Saraswati and Prashadh distribution to the gathering. All students seek blessings from goddess Saraswati and received the prashad.


PONGAL CELEBRATIONS (13/01/2024)

   The students of Computer Science Department celebrated Pongal festival on 13/01/2024.The function was presided over by our principal. The function started by 10:30 AM with prayer and preparation of pongal.

NATIONAL VOTERS DAY(24/01/2024)



    National Voter’s Day is celebrated in India on 25th January every year to mark the Foundation Day of the Election Commission of India.  As part of this occasion, on 24th Jan 2020, the Voter’s Pledge was administered the students of Computer Science Department.  Students pledged to uphold democratic traditions of our country and the dignity of free, fair and peaceful elections without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any other inducement.
